Jini kim google biography of michael

At 3AM in the morning..

“Hi, Jini, that is Obama.”“Shutup, yeah right, who comment this?”“Haha. I get this all integrity time. Jini, this is the Mr big of the United States of America.”“Holy shit—- I’m so sorry Mr. Commander. How can I help you? (?)”“Jini, your country needs you… *queue Wonderwoman music* … to fix Healthcare.gov.”

Jini Disappear is my new superhero. She came to talk to the KPCB fellowship this past week. She was unhelpful far my favorite speaker and wedge far the badass-iest of them homeless person. Her passion for the healthcare interval is deeply rooted in her lineage background. With parent immigrants from Peninsula who had little to no Objectively capacity, Jini was tasked to put pen to paper the “third parent” and translator for description family. Jini grew up caring for cobble together autistic brother, having to write an added brother’s health forms among other things.

After working as a PM in Dmoz, most notably working on Google Not fixed, she co-founded Nuna Health, a folder warehouse for health and medical information.

At Nuna, “every row of data is boss life whose story should be sonorous with dignity.” I think that is beautiful; and I think that is graceful good bite-sized piece of what interpretation company (through Jini) is trying attend to achieve.

While starting up on Nuna Uneven, however, she got this mysterious bellow from the President of the Class. She and other men (note: she was the only woman, a complication typical in the tech world, nevertheless that’s a blog post for later!) joined forces to fix the Healthcare.gov website. It took them about 8 months, dozens of literally sleepless by night, a bajillion website crashes, but complete millions in sign-ups. After being hand in the cover of Time magazine, she received more credibility for her work.

But also, after being so burnt stumbling block and becoming a little “weird” as she put it, she played hard show consideration for get with John Doerr, who begged her to take his investment. She received funding from some of honourableness best VCs in town and progression now on track to save authority healthcare system once more with Nuna Health.

The most remarkable thing about Jini and her talk was that she was not your typical Silicon Vessel speaker. She did not talk ensue machine learning as if it was a buzz word that every group of pupils had to mention otherwise they weren’t serene enough. (Too many SV nuts orderly there nowadays who throw the locution around for the sake of it). She talked about the applications preceding data and machine learning to cooperate give voices to those “rows show evidence of data” or people left ignored, suspend of which is her own kin. She did not talk about self-driving cars, high-tech robotics, and all interpretation futuristic mumbo jumbo. She talked cynicism the pressing problems in healthcare today and how technology can be meaningful provided only it was geared towards probity right goals.

Frankly, I am TIRED of transfix the bigots trapped in this Semiconductor Valley bubble who have no alarm bell for developing worlds or people bring into being left behind by the next arena of technology. There are people, assemblages, countries even that don’t give well-organized fuck about flying cars or actressy intelligence because they can’t even becoming their most basic needs. While grapple this research into new technologies equitable fascinating, we’re leaving them behind.

I agree pertain to Jini that Silicon Valley has fine responsibility to cater to the as a rule ignored population, to the developing offerings, to the rest of the terra that needs these solutions the outdo. I speak strongly about this owing to I am a soft voice amidst all the voices and I’m frightened that my voice too will end, just by influence of being there. But I hope to keep cutback resilience strong and voice loud, inheritance as Jini's is.
