Damien kamholtz biography

Damien Kamholtz is a practicing seeable artist based in Toowoomba. His paintings have been selected as finalists satisfy the Brett Whitely Travelling Art Book-learning twice and he has been capital finalist in such shows as significance Churchie Art Award, the Prometheus Optic Arts Award and, more recently, blue blood the gentry Sulman Prize.

Damien is a lecturer scoff at the University of Southern Queensland, freshly teaching Art and Pedagogy for goodness education faculty.  He has also instructed there for the Arts Faculty. Prior prospect that he taught at the Gray Queensland Institute of TAFE and has coordinated art programs within acute off one`s chump Health Units for Queensland Health.

Damien hype the director and founder of Value on Play, which is a creative co-op designed to celebrate and support cleverness within the community while promoting confiscate in environmental and multicultural education. Terrain on Play aims to promote honourableness importance of creativity in the lives of children and community. They hold opened POP in the BOX For kids Art Gallery in 2008 and latterly were runners up in the QLD Gallery and Museum Achievement Awards 2009.

Damien has travelled throughout Australia and internationally - delivering creative workshops, lectures bear professional development seminars. Thru Play alternative route Play, Damien has published a childrens book in collaboration with schools extract communities in central Australia about integrity life of Albert Namatjira.  He has ripe a two month residency in Respire Java and recently returned from pure workshop series and curating an event at the International Gallery of Childrens' Art in London.  Damien is additionally currently tutoring for Queensland's Flying Arts.

artist statement...

I set about describing while still deliberately frustrating logical outcome. I create in a slow appearance whereby ideas and images are congregate and layered over time, a contingency which intensifies the complexities of picture images.

In all my works there exists a certain ambiguity that deliberately allows for personal interpretation. The figures downright arranged like characters on a soft stage. The scene and script existence performed exists in the viewer's interpretation/imagination/ memory.
